thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

I don’t think that this is related to the PHP version. More likely, there’s something wrong with the character encoding.

Please make sure that the character encoding is to the “UTF-8” in Dreamweaver. Then, please also try opening the HTML file in a text editor like Notepad, and check how the characters appear there. Try “File” -> “Save as” and choose “Unicode (UTF-8)” there.
Then try the import again.

I forgot to mention that I tried all these.
Nothing happened!
We do everything the same way as with the php 5.2. – same Dreamweaver, same data etc.

The only change we’ve made was the php version.

ok, then maybe the new PHP version does not have UTF-8 support built-in, or something like that…

Can you try opening your HTML table file in e.g. Excel? Does everything look good there? Can you then save it to CSV from there and try to import that?

On the other side the rest of the cyrilic words in the new posts are OK !

thanks for the files, and for the extra input on the “Tableizer”.
Now, I tried the two HTML files and the CSV file, and the HTML files imported just fine for me. The Cyrillic characters where kept without problems. The CSV file will however not work, as that’s not stored as UTF-8 and the characters are therefore broken already.

So, my assumption here is that there’s either something wrong with how your browser uploads the HTML files to WordPress (maybe the UTF-8 encoding is lost somewhere), or with the UTF-8 handling on the server.
Basically, to prevent this from happening, you’ll have to make sure that all steps along the way don’t mess with the UTF-8 encoding.
