Customizr display post list on a page

Have spent now days crawling and reading thru the wordpress and customizr theme support forums and documentation and tried out a lot on a fresh WordPress install with child Customizr theme.
Mainly coming from this Topic [Theme: Customizr] How may display a custom list of posts on a page?
On a extra page (not homepage, not blog page) with some content (mainly text) on top “Blabla…Here you can see our latest news” I want to show a list of posts of a category “news”.

I thought I can simply do that with a hook, action and filter by just adding it to my functions.php in my child theme folder but somehow it does not work. I want to achieve that as much as out of the box/theme

Maybe it is also simpler to do as at the end of the day the category page at domain.com/category/news is looking great except I would need to add some content on top and show it in main menu and with another URL path so hierarchical under another page/topic e.g. something like domain.com/topic/news

Any help, support, guidance much appreciated for an excited WordPress and Theme Customizr fan with minimal PHP coding skills.
