• I was wondering how do I update the short-code so it’ll display a thumbnail with a custom field that I have in my posts.

I’ve searched some of the answers on the forum already, but they’re all updates from within the plugin. I always thought it was bad practice to modify the actual plugin, and instead, should update in our functions.php file?

I do have some familiarity with coding, but currently I’m trying to make sense of how WordPress plugins work and how I can modify.

    Thanks!

You can customise the output html by copying the file from the plugin into your theme. The file in the plugin is at a-z-listing/templates/a-z-listing.php (a simpler variant is as a-z-listing/templates/a-z-listing.example.php). Copy one of those to your theme named a-z-listing.php alongside your functions.php and customise to suit ??
