• Hi,

Sorry in advance, this is an extremely basic question. My knowledge of PHP is very limited at this point, and I’d appreciate the help figuring this out.

    My blog’s here: https://geoffnorthcott.com/blog/

Basically I just want to customize the sidebar.

First thing is just to add the same sidebar content to the single page template as is on the index page. Right now it’s blank.

Next thing is I’d like to add a few things. An “about” blurb, a categories list, and a few other things. I’m wondering if there are plugins or code snippets I can copy and paste to make this happen, and where that code goes.

    Many thanks,
    Geoff

  • Hi,

You can do it via just adding widgets from blog admin section or also add the code in sidebar.php of current active theme.

WordPress 2.6 widgets have a text widget you can use for your about blurb.

It also has a categories list built in that you can add with one click.
