I’m new to WordPress and have been trying to customize the text for the “Read More” and I’ve read the Codex page here as well as a number of guides on other websites, but the problem is that I cannot find the document that the string of code exists within. I’ve checked index.php, post.php, formatting.php and a number of other files to no avail. So where the heck is it located in the latest version?

Usually the template tag, the_content(), which causes the “Read More” text, is in a theme’s index.php file. For instance, with the WordPress Default theme, that is in wp-content/themes/default/index.php.

    Hi,

It seems quicktags “more” does not work. I use WP 2.7.1 and standard theme, as well. Below is what I did :
    1. Add new post
    2. Switch the editor to HTML view
    3. Click button more to insert <!–more–> between words
    4. Save and Upload
But I can’t find the “read more” in the words.

    What step I missed?

    Thank you

    Hi,

Please ignore my previous post. It has been solved.

    thank you
