Wanting to make a very basic directory website. Looking to have the category page look like the following:

    https://www.illowaimpact.org/member.asp

And the listing pages look like the following:

    https://www.illowaimpact.org/member.asp?ID=25

I am versed in PHP and HTML and have modified template files before. However, is there any capabilities for me to be able to modify the template files without them being overwritten by future updates?

Your directory plugin looks to be the closest one based on those I’ve researched that resembles the listing page somewhat close – but I am not looking for Google Maps or clickable links – just nothing but a quick listing of businesses along with their address and phone/fax numbers.

More than willing to buy the Pro version too – but I watched the video walk through and it doesn’t seem to really offer layout changes like this.

    Thank you for the support!

You need to copy the category-listing.php, single-listing.php and search-listing.php files to the root of your theme and then change the settings to disable the built in templates. WordPress will find your files automatically, and they won’t be overwritten.
