• Hello. I’ll apologize now in case anything I ask is a stupid question, but when customizing themes before this Ive never had an issue.

I downloaded abstrakt3c and made all new images for it… saving them all as jpg even though some of the originals were gif.

I changed the css file to suit these new images and also the image section of the header.php file where image css for this theme is kept (something id never seen before and most likely the problem is it doesnt like my customising!).

Was all excited to finally be FTPing the theme over. That went off without a hitch. Installed the widget plugin just after and no hitch there or when it was activated however when I went to activate my nice custom theme i get the dreaded ‘stylesheet missing’ error. So i retransferred it plus the original theme. Custom theme fails again. Original works.

Sigh… anyone willing to help? Could changing image file extensions and customising the names of images called by the css files really have caused this? How can I fix it (without having to start again. I put a lot of work into those images).

    I could cry!

  • If the script cannot find the stylesheet – there is most likely a problem with the top lines on that file: missing info, bad characters etc.
Also, if you have installed both the original and yours, are they in folders with different names?

Yep different names. Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out and get back to you with the good or bad news :). I know CSS, but not php… though I think if there’s a problem I should be able to see it. Lets hope so!

hello . . . another newbie, as you can tell by the name (any info on how to change it wld be much appreciated). I have set up a theme, with a stylesheet using Dreamweaver 8 and it looks to me like the codes are in place to link the stylesheet to the index.html page. Everything is in a folder named dare_themes in WordPress1/wp_content/themes/dare_theme, but I keep getting the message that the stylesheet is missing. I haven’t begun to add any plug-ins or php codes or anything else. I am learning as I go, one step at a time, and the first one is to get my theme to show up. Any advice? –I have checked some of the other forums concerning this, but they say ‘resolved’ so I don’t think I can post there, but I have done some of the things that they have suggested but they haven’t resolved my problem.
