• Hi There,

I’d like to customize my “Add New” post page and “quick press” administration widget to accommodate some new functionality. The reason I want to customize it, rather than just use the custom fields feature, is because I want to enforce certain post requirements for my contributors and authors.

For example, suppose I have a site that collects data about water parks around the country. Of course I want users to include a Title and Content, but I also want a thumbnail, zip code, and checkboxes for what kind of facilities are at the waterpark (wave pool, lap pool, etc).

    Any thoughts?

    Here’s one idea:

I could edit up the “Add new” page to include extra fields baked in. I suppose it’s possible to force these new fields to be non-optional in the same routines as where WP natively checks for Title. Then during submit, I could include a little code to insert these into the meta key/value table.

Does this sound like the best way to do this?
