    Hi,

After the upgrading WP to 3.8.1 the ability to customize thumbnails, change the look of the thumbnails does not work any more.

This is a serious issue as I have galleries I need to publish which are part of urgent articles that need to be published.

The thumbnails need attention e.g. heads are cut-off, only bodies showing etc. in images.

Help with this asap will be highly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Indy

@indyparker – Are you trying to modify the size of the thumbnails, or are you trying to change what section of the image the thumbnails are using?

    Hi Cais,

Trying to change the section which shows as a thumbnail, not trying to modify the size.

@indyparker – Thanks for narrowing this down. I am able to modify what section of an image is used without issue on all of my test sites … can you describe what part of the process appears to not be working?

    Hi Cais,

When I look at any image in a gallery, it shows the full image but not the crop box. So, there is no facility to actually customize the thumbnail in any way.

    Hi Cais,

I click on ‘Edit Thumb’ and then no facility to edit. I see the full image in the box on the left and a view of the cropped version on the right.

    Hi,

I’ve fixed the issue .. without support on this …

But am happy share the answer for others who might have the same problem.

I also think Photocrati need to update this in the next release (so my fix will not get overwritten).

You need to update the JQuery Crop javascript and it’s CSS to the latest version.

I got it from here – version 9.12:
    https://jcrop-cdn.tapmodo.com/

You can download the zip file or ‘save as’ the individual files.

Replace the existing jquery.Jcrop.js and jquery.Jcrop.css with the 9.12 version from this site.

PATHS where the script is located in the nextgen gallery plugin.

    1. jquery.Jcrop.js is in:

    /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/admin/js

    2. jquery.Jcrop.css is in:

    /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/admin/js/Jcrop/css

Once you replace these two files with the latest version you will see the thumbnail cropping works again.

If this does not resolve your issue, then you have a different problem to this one.

    Hope it helps!!

@indyparker – Thanks for your follow-up and sharing your findings. I’ve made a note for our developers to review this issue but your suggesting may not happen before our next (beta) release.

    – Cais.
