When I select “Customize” in the WordPress banner menu for my website, initially and very quickly, the Customize webpage partially loads (only the top block containing the text: “You are customizing <business name>”, in this case “Caring Canines”)
After some time of the browser trying to complete the load, the rest of the sidebar loads and a Firefox dialog box pops up that a script has stopped. I then click on “Continue” and the rest of the page will fill in.

When I use Microsoft Edge, the browser handles this situation much more poorly with a message that webpage needs to be recovered. After clicking to recover the webpage, it sometimes displays the webpage, and sometimes no matter how many times I click on the recover button, it does not display.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there something wrong with my website? Is this particular function just slow and I don’t have to worry about it? I have tried to research the www.remarpro.com forum and Google, but can’t find any solutions that directly apply to this problem.

    Thanks for reviewing this post.

I believe you are using the OceanWP theme. I found some information here: https://docs.oceanwp.org/article/343-reduce-the-loading-time-of-the-customizer my thoughts are that you are using the customizer under Appearance and not “theme options” try going through theme options and see if you can make changes that way.

If that doesn’t work it might be a problem with the theme. In that case contact https://oceanwp.org/support/ theme creators to help you resolve the issue.

    Hi Shaylee,
Thank you very much for your quick response. I have not been able to work on my website as I expected until now, which is why my response is so delayed. The website you recommended gives me some excellent options. You are correct that I am using the customizer under Appearance. I also visit my website after logging into WordPress and then click on “Customize”, which I suspect is the same as using the customizer under Appearance. I could not find theme options, so did not know how to make changes that way. For some reason the customizer is faster now. It loads for me in about 13 seconds which is OK. Thanks again for your help.

    Regards,
    Jim
