Customize footer and templates

Hi first of all thanks its the most beautiful block editor themes from the four that are available right now. Thanks for creating! I am just trying all the experimental full site editing on an experimental page. And i am so lost all is so different. Should i use a child theme ? How can i add other templates and most important how can i customize the text in the footer? Thanks a lot
