Customize Code Markup Style

I just downloaded this plugin: https://www.thunderguy.com/semicolon/wordpress/code-markup-wordpress-plugin/

I think it is working fine, but I really want to customize how the code looks when it is rendered by WordPress.

i added code like this to the stylesheet but nothing seemed to happen:
