This was hard to google, and shouldn’t require coding! so let me post my experience here (in the most relevant thread I’ve found so far). 4 months later, this unresolved post has helped me a lot!
I needed the buddymenu widget to display links to buddypress pages (like “view profile”), but ALSO links to non-buddypress pages (in fact, pages that aren’t even on the site).
I use the buddymenu widget to display some links for easy member access, so like, “view profile” “edit profile” direct you to your BP stuff, and then “resources” links to a second website — all from the widget). This post got me 2/3 of the way there, here’s the last 1/3 for anyone who needs it ??
To create a custom URL, do the following once you’re at dashboard > widgets > put the buddymenu widget where you want it > on your menu item (for example, “first menu item”), select “custom url”, and then SAVE the widget. Refresh the page you are on, and then access the widget again — there will magically be a new field IN RED for a custom URL! Voila! So frustrating if you don’t realize this……..
Here’s what I’m running:
WordPress 3.5.1
Buddypress 1.7.2
Frisco theme 1.6.13
Buddymenu 2.1.1
