I’m a wp newbie, but I have some knowledge of html and php. I want to customise the twenty ten header navigation as follows:

    1. I want to rename the Home page to ‘News’.

    2. Make the ‘About’ page the default page of the site.

    How do I do this?

  • Just go to the top-left side of the page in wp dashboard and click on
Pages. You will get a list of the current pages. Hover over the page titles and a menu will appear, click on edit. When the page comes up simply go to the top of the page where the current page title is displayed and change it to your new titles and then click the update button on the right side of the page.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve tried this but the Home page is not on the list of pages (it’s the default blogging page) so I can’t rename it.

Also, how do you set the default page of the site to a static page?

OK, I’ve found how to do this:

    1. Create a new blank page called ‘News’.
    2. In Settings > Reading, set ‘Front page displays’ to ‘A static page’, and set Front Page to ‘About’ and Posts Page to ‘News’.

    Voila!
