Hi – my client has a custom field (via ACF) that they’d like to display in the widget output. Am I able to copy widget.php into my child theme to customise it? Does it need to be in a certain folder?

Hi again – can I please get some assistance with this?

It is not possible to use the widget.php in another location. To circumvent overwriting with newer versions you can set the plugin version header and the stable tag to a very high number.

I created another post list plugin, and that considers custom fields. You can select the desired custom field, give it a label for the list and specify the position in a list item. I recommend to try it. If it should not work as desired you will get your money back: Ultimate Post List Pro.

    Thanks Martin.
