Customise Theme For Side by Side Posts

    I use the Nucleare template and I would like to customise it so I can have two posts next to each other:

    Post Post Sidebar
    Post Post Sidebar
    Post Post Sidebar
    …

    At the moment it looks like this:

    Post Sidebar
    …

    I have created a child theme with the Plugin “One Click Child Theme” and I have tried to customise the index.php + CSS following the instructions here, which was helpful:

    Now, I don’t want that code to apply to my Pages (Homepage, Contact page…) but only in the categories where my posts appear. Which files do I have to customise? Or what code do I have to add to create that distinction?

    (just transferred my website from wp.com to wp.org and it looks like a mess, just want to find out how to organise my template properly before sorting out the rest).
