customise Locations Page

Hi,
We are trying to customise the presentation of the locations page using a single-location.php

this works fine except that the content is presented as:

1. Location address & map
2. the post contents
3. upcoming events

we would like to mix this ordering up and place the locations data at different point as well as look at how the meta data is organised. Somewhere there is a function that grabs the post content and also the location data and then returns it but we have not, as of yet, been able to locate exactly what is doing what and when.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.
