Hi there, wondering whether there’s a way I can customise the checkbox description so it says ‘Subscribe to comment replies’ or ‘Notify me about replies to my comment’ instead of ‘Subscribe to comment’? I think it will make it clearer for users and therefore make them feel more confident about subscribing. Thanks!

    Hey,

As of now this is not possible (unless you change it directly on the plugin code), but I think it’s a very reasonable feature that should exist. I will add this to the plugin roadmap.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Hello,

I have just added a filter to the checkbox label: cren_comment_checkbox_label. It will only affect the label text.

So, now it seems that my readers have to check the box in order to see my replies to their comment in their email? This box is new, right? As a reader, I REALLY dislike having to subscribe to comments… that’s why, as a blogger, I used your plugin. Is the box now a requirement for GDPR or something?

    Hi @myweeabode,

The default behavior of the checkbox is to be checked by default, but I’ve just discovered that the default settings were not being loaded correctly on version 1.6.0. I’ve released version 1.6.1, which fixes this. Also, you can now tweak the plugin settings at Settings > Comment Reply Email Notification on the administrative area.

Got… so, fyi… if you check the box for GDPR, the box that says ‘save my email, etc’, goes away. I assume it is supposed to work like that?

Also, where would that code go to change the text label?

Oh no, that box that says “Save my email in this blah blah” was put there by WordPress on 4.9.6. Check this out:

How do I apply this filter (cren_comment_checkbox_label) to customize the checkbox label? Put it in my theme’s functions.php? How do I format my custom label text? Can you give me a working example, like one that won’t break my site when I insert it?
