Customer History? (General inquiry)

I just updated WooCommerce and I noticed there is now a screen element on each order page called “Customer history” where it shows total orders, total revenue, and average order value. I’m just wondering how WooCommerce determines a “customer”. I assume each account is marked as a customer, but I’ve noticed order history data appearing for customers who do not have accounts. How is this determined? Is it determined by email or name or something else? Also, is there a section of the WooCommerce admin panel where I can see more detailed customer history information? Thanks!

It sounds like you are looking for further information about Order Attribution Tracking and customer history.
WooCommerce determines a customer based on the billing email address provided during checkout. Therefore, even if a customer doesn’t create an account, their order history data will still be recorded and displayed under “Customer history” if they use the same billing email for subsequent orders.
You might find more detailed customer history information in WooCommerce > Customers and Analytics > Orders. More info:
