Custom user roles database entries

Can you explain what these anomalies are. All Pods user roles are prefixed with “pods_”, and I presume bbPress prefixes their roles. Did you extend the bbPress post types with Pods?

However, the actual capabilities don’t take effect properly (not all of them), even though I can see in pods user role editor, that they are registered correctly.

I found I could get around it by adding one of the capabilities to the WP user role via your plugin, but then if I go to switch a user to another bbp role and back again, everything gets messed up.

I also used User Role Editor before your plugin which has been known to cause issues with bbpress, so basically, I would like to get both the role editing plugins I have used, delete them, empty out/delete completely their respective databases, and start all over again just to make sure that I am not playing with the bbpress roles from anywhere other than my own manually entered role.

Be careful, bbPress user roles are not the same as WP user roles. You can have a WP user role AND a bbPress user role, but sometimes I find that during usage, the roles can get mixed up a bit. I’m not sure if that’s a bug on bbPress’ side, or something else. I just know it can be a pain to deal with.

Thanks, yes, this is the problem I think I have got right now, as I have in the past added bbpress ‘capabilities’ to WP ‘Roles’ I think I have somehow got everything out of whack.

This is why I need to reset all WP roles and their capabilities back to default, then delete all user role editing plugins, wipe out any of their database files in my sql, then start again.

Just now It seems I am chasing my tail trying to get the bbpress capabilities to behave as expected.

So, could you let me know what the database files I need to clear out for your plugin are please?

You’ll just want to reset your wp_user_roles option in your options table. Pods doesn’t store any information anywhere else other than where WP stores it itself.
