Custom user role to edit custom post type

  • In a plugin I’ve made, I have created a custom post type “books” and also a custom user role “book_editor”.

    What I would like to know is how I can set users with the role “book_editor” to be able to edit a “book” for which he is set to the author BUT not be able to add a new book and have no capabilities for any other post types.

    Any help is much appreciated
