Is it possible to have custom URL/permalink for child posts depending on the “mother” post?

    Example:
    – Music Festivals
    – Photo galleries

For the music festival I would have a URL like /the-music-festival/ and for each photo gallery I would have /the-music-festival/photos/the-gallery/

I could also have a gallery NOT belonging to any festival, so the URL would be /photos/the-gallery/

Depending on either the gallery belongs, or not, to a specific festival I would show different template/navigation on my theme.

Sorry, but this is not possible with WordPress, without a major hack, which I don’t recommend.

At the moment, this parent / child relationship is defined and processed in Types. WordPress is not aware of it and doesn’t include this information in the URL.

What you are asking makes good sense, but is really not feasible in the way WordPress works today.

Who knows, maybe we’ll have it in a later WordPress version.

Bummer… it ruins the migration to WordPress of an existent website that uses this URL scheme.

    I’ll guess I’ll have to make a bunch of 301 redirects :-/
