Custom Units

  • Is there a way to add custom units? The primary requirement is simply the pluralization, not necessarily conversions.

    scoop/scoops
    square/squares
    can/cans
    bar/bars
    ampule/ampules

    I know that I could add those into the “Name” field instead and then add a plural form in the ingredients area; however, we are currently putting products in the “Name” field, which I think is the ideal setup for the plugin:
    1 | scoop | Chocolate Protein Powder | <blank>

    This doesn’t feel like the best practice use of the plugin, but maybe I am wrong:
    1 | <blank> | scoop | Chocolate Protein Powder

    You should definitely NOT put “scoop” as the ingredient name. It’s clearly the unit, so that’s the field it should go in.

    I’ll put it on the todo list to allow you to define custom units for this.

    Yeah we’re really trying to leverage the best practices as much as possible, especially moving forward with our content team. Just finishing up my manual import script of a few hundred recipes and just lining things up. Thanks.
