Custom Template Panel not shown? Try this

Hello,
I had this problem for a couple of hours and I tried everything without success. The problem was that the template selector drop-down menu was not showing whenever I try to create a page. I tried the steps outlined here:

And the problem is fixed. What fixed it for me was to switch to a different theme and right back to the theme I am using.

Hope this helps anyway with a similar problem.
