Custom Template Options

Love your plugin.
I’ve used it in a few of my WordPress projects. I’m trying to create templates that could be reused and the template functionality could customized based on a series of options in the widget form.
I would like to have different options based on the template.
How to implement this… maybe an hook to add extra input fields to the widget form depending on the selected template. Maybe the template could define template vars in the comment at the top of the header. The plugin could parse the selected template and provide input fields based on the available vars.
A few use cases…
1) A template that displays posts in columns. Options could be to be able to specify the amount of columns per row.
2) A template that display posts in a carousel. Options could be to display arrows or not or to display thumbnails.
3) Post list, options to show read more link or not, option to show author, date, etc.
