So I am using this plug in to assign custom taxonomies to an existing post type (created by my theme not the plug in). I called the taxonomy “Keywords” and assigned it to my Portfolio Projects custom post type.

I added a few keywords about my project with the idea that if you search for those on the website that project will show in the search results but for some reason it doesn’t work.

Am I doing something wrong or my logic is incorrect?

Are you referring to say a “My post about dieting” post, gets a keyword of “health”, and then someone does a search of “health”, the example post shows up in the results list?

If yes, then it’s very much a case of WordPress search doesn’t perform searches on assigned custom taxonomies, at least not out of box. Searches typically only look at the post title and the post content.

You’d need to look for any sort of plugins or custom solutions that add searching through assigned taxonomy terms, to make that work. It’s not something we have any sort of solution for with CPTUI.

Yes that is exactly what I mean! And yes I see now. Thanks very much for the answer! Any such plug ins that you might recommend?

Never mind I found one that works perfectly: WP Extended Search is called. It allows you to enable custom taxonomies for the search function of WordPress and can detect in my case the “keywords”.
