    Hello Tobias,

I noticed yesterday that the custom CSS I have been using for TablePress for years is no longer being applied. When I search the source code for my pages it only includes the default TablePress CSS.

In the TablePress Plugin Options tab under “Load these “Custom CSS” commands to influence the table styling:” the edit box is empty. It should be showing my numerous lines of custom CSS code. However, the files:
    tablepress-combined.min.css
    tablepress-custom.css
    tablepress-custom.min.css
are still in my wp-content folder with 0644 permissions and appear to include all of my customizations. I see that they contain some warnings. Would this prevent them from being utilized?

I initially thought the problem might be tied to my reactivation of the Autoptimize plugin last week which optimizes CSS code. I deactivated it and emptied my page cache, but that didn’t make any difference.

I have made no changes to my theme recently. All of my plugins are up-to-date.

The most recent change to my site was my hosting company upgrading my site to WordPress 4.7.4 on Friday.

Any suggestions you have would be most appreciated!

    Fran

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

That sounds strange. I’m not sure why the “Custom CSS” text field would be empty when the three CSS files are still there…
As a first measure, please backup/download all these three files to your computer.

Then, please copy/paste the contents of the tablepress-custom.css file (those should not be minified in any way, by default) into the “Custom CSS” text field again, and save.

This should hopefully already remedy these issues. You might have to clear the autooptimize plugin’s cache, in addition.

Now, you mention “some warnings” in the CSS files, could you elaborate on that?

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thank you, Tobias. I will try your suggestion and let you know the results.

    The warnings include:

“The properties padding-top, padding-bottom, … can be replaced by padding.”

“Using width with padding-right can sometimes make elements larger than you expect.”

    Hi Fran,

good to hear that this worked! ??

About those warnings: Where exactly are you seeing those? Are they really part of the actual CSS files? That would be strange. I wonder what put them there…

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Tobias,

My file editor puts a warning symbol to the left of each line in question and when I put my cursor over it the message appears.

    Thank you again!

    Hi Fran,

ah, ok. Now I see. So those are more like notices about things to keep in mind. Cool idea for an editor to have ??

Good to hear that everything is working again now ??

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
