• So, I just upgraded my website band-geek.net to the latest version of wordpress. I’ve been postponing this upgrade for awhile because things always seem to break when I upgrade I just don’t have the time to go sifting though things. Now that I have upgraded my custom smilies have disappeared from my comment form. I have saved the wp-comments-post file (which should be the file that codes the clickable smilies on the comments form?) and also wp-commmentsrss2 just in case. I saw something on the plugin website that the code for the clickable smilies was no longer needed after a certain version of the plugin? Is there something I’m overlooking as to why my clickable smilies in my comments form have disappeared?

I’m starting to think that this feature just isn’t functioning correctly with this version of wordpress. Has anyone else had this issue?

    Same here.
Tried several smilies plugins, and they work fine in the admin area for posts, but not in the comment area. They are not clickable anymore. Instead you jump to the top of the page.
wp-monalisa claims to be updated for the latest wp 2.9.1, but has the same problem.
Custom smilies have not been updated for a while (compatible up to 2.3.2 and the beta version up to 2.8.5)
    Same with wp-grins.
I suspect it has something to do with the “better hooks” for smilies, 2.9.1 claims, but I can’t read the code well enough to see what happens.
