Custom Sidebars works in 5.8 without installing Classic Widgets plugin (?)
-
I see a notice at the top of all admin pages which says “IMPORTANT – Custom Sidebars is NOT compatible with the new widgets edit screen (powered by Gutenberg). Install the official Classic Widgets plugin if you want to continue using it.”
I do not see that to be the case. I have WordPress 5.8 installed and DO NOT have Classic Widgets plugin installed, and all my Sidebars (including Custom Sidebar created ones) seems to be working fine, just like they were before the installation of WP 5.8. In addition, if I look at the WP widgets page, it looks exactly like it did before installing WP 5.8. I have confirmed on the Admin home page that my website does really have WP 5.8 installed.
I do not have any of the alternate third-party Classic Widget similar plugins installed nor have I done any of the possible coding changes suggested by you and others to keep the classic widget page. I don’t know what the block-based widget page is supposed to look like, but I assume that it probably is not supposed to look exactly like the classic widget page. But it does on my website.
I should mention that I do have the “Classic Editor” plugin installed if that has anything to do with this.
