Just noticed this alert. Are you saying Custom Sidebars will not work with WordPress without the Classics Widgets plugin? Or are you saying it will work as long as you don’t use the widgets edit screen? I’m currently using Elementor + Classic Editor. If your plugin requires another plugin just to run in WordPress, then it’s time to update your plugin or risk users bailing out. Please clarify.

“Custom Sidebars plugin is NOT compatible with the new widgets edit screen (powered by Gutenberg). Install the official Classic Widgets plugin if you want to continue using it.”

  • I got the same error and am now looking to replace this as I don’t want to solve this by installing another plugin.

Agreed. Adding another plugin is not a legitimate solution. No response from the developer so far. ?

This plugin only works with the classic widgets editor that’s no longer available by default in WP v5.8. That won’t change.

I got the same alert after updating to WP v5.8:

Custom Sidebars plugin is NOT compatible with the new widgets edit screen (powered by Gutenberg).
Install the official Classic Widgets plugin if you want to continue using it.

I don’t do anything and everything looks fine for me so far.
