Morning,

I’ve updated to WP 3.8.1 and Custom Sidebars 1.4.

I am using the StyleShop theme from Elegant Themes.

My Custom Sidebars are not showing on the published pages as they were before. When in the page editor, the default template is selected and the Custom Sidebar is also selected. But, when viewing the page (as a visitor would) the Sidebar is blank.

Additionally, on pages where a Custom Sidebar is used, the WP toolbar at the top of the page has disappeared. Pages that don’t use a Custom Sidebar still show the toolbar (when logged in).

I downloaded a previous version (1.3) of Custom Sidebars and installed it, but the problem persists.

Any ideas? This is a client site and I need to get this resolved pretty quickly. Thanks!

Hi @robthomas,

I checked the screenshots you have shared and found there isn’t any widgets in the “Sidebar Primary” when Custom Sidebar plugin is activated but when it is deactivated there are two widgets in the sidebar text and mail chimp.

Have you not added any widgets in it or you could’t add widgets in it or you have added widgets but it is not getting saved?

So i figured out what’s causing the sidebar to disappear for me. Check the screenshots attached. These are all with Custom Sidebars ACTIVE.

*NOTE: “Main Sidebar” and “No Contact Form” are my two Custom Sidebars. The rest are all the theme’s original sidebars.

1st:
This is with all of the widgets in the 2 custom sidebars i’ve created and NO WIDGETS in the primary sidebar for the theme.

So, it’s working properly as long as you have some kind of widget in the themes primary sidebar. Is this how it’s supposed to be or should it work with the theme’s original sidebar empty?

Hi @robthomas,

Hmm, that is rather strange, though I’m glad it’s at least working for you with that initial widget in place.

Have you tried all that using a default theme, perhaps Twenty Fourteen?

Just wondering if this is related to something with your theme. Looking forward to your reply. ??
