Sidebar is good to have on pages especially for users who just need a little extra guidance, I have some entries so it’s like a menu.

What I would like to do is have a sidebar appear on the comment screen. So the user will be able to select which page to go to, after I read the documentation about the Loop, it says to put the category number in the code, but comments do not have a category. Should I use an include to put in the sidebar instead?

  • It helps to know a few things first:

    1. What theme are you using?

    2. Posts, or Pages (as in Write > Write Page), or both?

Modifying the sidebar based on where one is on your blog is done through the use of Conditional Tags. But whether you already have a sidebar on posts and/or Pages is a different issue, and can be complicated to modify, depending on the theme in use.

I’m using the default theme, concerned with all pages having some way for a user to click on a navigational button, or link to go to whatever screen they need to go to. I currently have a home link that only shows on the home page and when viewing a post. If you go to comments there is no sidebar, so I figure if there is one it can be used as navagation to whatever screen is needed.
