Custom Sidebar for Event Calendar page

Data you add to The Events Calendar is stored as a custom post type. Unless the plugin you are using supports custom post types, you’ll need to crack open the template files and override them (honestly pretty easy).

Our Themer’s Guide will help you become familiar with how our template system works and how to override them. The sidebar plugin you are using probably provides a template tag (PHP) for each custom sidebar. This is what you will want to replace in your templates.

Another way you could do this is with custom page templates, though you won’t have a much control as you do with the Tribe templates.

I tried to understand it but with no success yet. It is relly required to change the file content directly? I just want to change some contents of the sidebar but I really don’t get how can I do this in my child theme. Could you give me an example please how to do it with a sidebar?

Yes, to enable a sidebar on any of the events pages, you’ll need to create a custom page template.

The reason for this is because The Events Calendar doesn’t use a physical page or post rather a custom post type which is why the custom sidebar plugin is not picking it up.

For the other part of your question, outside of the events pages — you can use the Events Widget in any sidebar.
