Hi there: Good day, I am currently facing an issue that has left me quite perplexed. Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to resolve it on my own.

Upon installing the plugin and making adjustments to the ‘custom search parameter’ settings, I expected to see search data being populated as a result. However, to my dismay, no data is appearing. I have tried using the keyword= parameter, but it seems my attempts have been in vain.

I was wondering if you could kindly assist me in resolving this matter. Your expertise and guidance would be greatly appreciated in helping me understand and rectify the issue.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

    Best regards,

    Ken G

    Hi @deftwp ,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I’ve had a look at the website and it looks like the search that’s being used is a custom solution and it most probably doesn’t use the normal WordPress flow. That means, my plugin cannot work with it automatically.

I tried to search for cars but instead of using the standard keyword URL parameter, I switched it to the standard s . That should now be showing in the WP Search Analytics dashboard. I know that is not what you are expecting and it’s exactly what you are experiencing.

This will need some custom work done in order to make my plugin compatible with the theme you are using. Unfortunately, I don’t have the possibility of looking at the code of the Listivo theme to be able to “play” with it and make it work.

Is there any dev/staging site where I can connect and look at the code? Or can you send me the themes and plugins that you are using to try and replicate the issue on my end and find a fix for it? If so, I will share an email address with you where you can send the information.

Thank you and sorry for not being able to help you more with this issue.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I appreciate it!

I will now go ahead and prepare the staging environment so you can have a look at the code…

Please let me know where to send the information(s) that you’ll require. Thanks in advance.

    Hello Ken,

I recently found out that it is against the rules of this support forum to ask for login information in order to debug issues on your website.

I have just deleted the email you’ve just sent me so that we avoid any kind of rule violations.

Please provide a list with the theme and all the plugins you are using so I can try to understand what could be causing this.
Is there a chance for you to send me the theme in a zip file so I can look at the code? You may use the same email address you already have.

Please don’t include any other login information to your staging environment.

Thank you and sorry for making you set up a staging env. I wasn’t aware of some guidelines on the support forum.

Just for the record, @cornelraiu-1 , you may not ask for admin access to a user’s staging environment, as well.

    Hi @sterndata ,

    Thank you for your message.

I understand that now, that’s why I rejected/deleted the email that I received earlier today from Ken G that included access to a staging environment.

After installing the theme, two other plugins will be installed.

P.S. I had tried the ‘s=’ parameter and it worked, but only when searching the blog section on my theme.

    Hi,

Thank you for sending this list and the theme in the email.

It doesn’t look like it’s one of the plugins causing it.
I will setup the theme on one of my local instances and try to find a solution for you.

It’ll happen in the morning only since it’s already midnight here.

    I’ll keep you posted.

    Hi @deftwp ,

I just finished setting up the theme on my local and the fix seems to be just a typo on your end.

The value you have to add in the Add custom search parameters for recording the searches: setting should include just the word, not the = sign.

So, if you enter just keyword in that field, everything will work correctly.

It’s a bad on my side as well because I didn’t pay 100% attention to your initial question. Also, in the next update I will improve the user experience in the the settings area so that it’s more clear what are the expected values in each of those fields.

Please let me know if that fixed it.

    Thank you,

    Good news!

    Your recommendation worked flawlessly.

    Thank you very much!

Consider adding a ‘buy me a coffee’ button on the plugin and/or on your website, I would love to at least buy you a drink.

    Cheers,

    Ken

    Hi Ken,

    I am glad it worked!

I did consider that but didn’t get to it yet. Thank you anyway for the nice words.

Instead of a coffee, I would really appreciate a review from you. That’s what really drives me forward on maintaining the plugin.

In the meantime, I will go grab a coffee and imagine you bought it for me.

    Thank you again!
