Custom Redirect URL for logged out members won’t work

I have set the redirect URL to https://bdla.ninjamedia.co.uk/login as I want the login page to be the only visible page for users who aren’t logged in, but it doesn’t work correctly. Instead I’m just presented with the homepage URL, but none of the contents. I can manually add /login to the address bar, but the auto-redirect doesn’t work. Have disabled other plugs with the same result.
