Custom product permalink base creates trailing slash

Hey guys,
The permalink structure I want for all my product is very simple:
https://www.domain.com/deals/product-nameNo need for fancy categories in my case.
I thought the way to do this would be using a custom base for product permalinks of
/dealsThen the product name with dashes or a slug is added. However, somehow this results in this URL
https://www.domain.com/deals/product-name/Can I make the ugly trailing / go away? Does it hurt SEO-wise?
the URL also works without the /, but then redirects to the version with /)Cheers,
