Custom preview image gets overwritten

I had to replace some preview/thumb images from some links with locally saved ones, but when updated, the linked site’s original thumbnail appears again, despite changing in the editor before saving.
Also: the general thumbnail settings does not affect SVG-images it seems. They will have the original size no matter what size you put in the settings.
