    If you don’t want to use a ready-made plug-in, type in ‘custom post types’ in the search bar at the top of this site and it’ll give you a list of links. I think the very first link leads to the developer documentation for custom post types.

    If it’s confusing (and it often is) scroll to the very bottom of the page where it gives “additional resources” — there’s another link to an excellent blog post about how to create your own and trouble-shoot them. Very newbie friendly.
