Custom Post Types – version 3.0

Morning all,

I am getting a little confused with custom posts types and haven’t seen too many articles available online.

I understand the principles of Custom Post Types – version 3.0 but am at a loss on how I create a custom post type that also allows me to specify a particular category.

I want to create a custom post type for books. I need to display title, post, thumbnail and add a default category of ‘ebooks’.
What code would I put in my functions.php to achieve this?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.
