Custom Post Type that isn't in a subfolder

Is it possible to create a Custom Post Type and posts that aren’t inside of a sub-folder? For example, I create a Custom Post Type for fruits and then add a post “Pear”. Then the link structure is https://www.mysite.com/fruit/pear but I would like it to be https://www.mysite.com/pear
