Custom post type template?

Hi there,
I’ve been asked to create a custom post type for a site using this theme, but it doesn’t appear to be recognizing single-post_type_name.php. I notice the file structure does not include a single.php, but does have singular.php. Could you tell me if I’m needing to name this file something else?
