I have pages with a custom post type block and I had a template defined for that custom post type. Since a recent Blocksy update the template is gone and the pages look wrong. I’ve found this in the Blocksy docs:

Starting with Blocksy 1.7.20, there’s an automatic system that detects the declared custom post types and displays the options panel for them.

It appears that this automatic system is not working in my case, in fact it seems that my custom post type template was removed entirely. I have not found a way to undo those changes, therefore my questions:

    1) How can I create a template for a custom post type from scratch?

    2) How can I assign this template to a custom post type block in Gutenberg?

    Many thanks in advance.

  • Hello @ulim

What is the slug of the CPT that you’re trying to create?

    Hello @cteduard

The CPT is gone, so any slug it might have had, is gone as well.

I have now found that the “Custom Post Type” block I was using is not a WordPress standard block, but a Getwid block. Sorry for not mentioning this in the first place, I wasn’t aware of that. Looking at the Getwid CPT block, there seems to be no option to set a slug.

Seeing that this is a Getwid block, it may not be a Blocksy question after all. But I do wonder why I don’t have the options panel for the CPT.

    Hi @ulim,
Not sure how the Getwid CPT works but everything works properly if you set up a CPT with Pods, MetaBox or Custom Post Type UI.

I would suggest you to contact the guys from Getwid, maybe they will be able to give you more info of what’s happening on your end.

Let us know if you have any other questions regarding Blocksy.

    Hi @creativethemeshq ,

this seems to be a catch-22. You don’t know what Getwid does and the Getwid guys don’t know what Blocksy does. You say that CPTs created by other plugins work fine with Blocksy, they say that their CPTs work fine with other themes.

I don’t know anything – neither how Blocksy works, nor how Getwid works. So I cannot solve this.

    Kind regards,
    Ulrich

    Hello @ulim,
You have to understand that it is very hard to diagnose such things, we can’t know what happened on you end because we don’t see your code or don’t know what and how really you added that template.

Earlier you told that “it seems that my custom post type template was removed entirely” – where did you created and how this custom post template?

Did you somehow added a file template in the parent theme folder?

    @creativethemeshq ,
I’ve not done anything outside of the normal WordPress UI. I created the CPT months ago via the Getwid CPT block. They have a video explaining the process (start at around 4:00 minutes):

    https://motopress.com/blog/getwid-wordpress-blocks-custom-post-type-gutenberg-block/#Watch_the_Custom_Post_Type_video_tutorial

After I created the CPT this way, I forgot all about it. The only time I noticed that something is wrong is after I upgraded Blocksy. Suddenly the posts looked ugly and when I investigated, I found that the CPT was gone. At first I did not think that the Blocksy upgrade had anything to do with it, but then I found the release notes I quoted above and saw that Blocksy did indeed make some changes in that area.

Now, if you’re saying that Blocksy could not possibly have deleted or overwritten the CPT, that’s fine with me. I just wanted to report a possible problem.

However, if I understand the release notes right, then I should be able to manage the CPT I created via the Getwid CPT block in the customizer. But it doesn’t show up there, so I assume that Blocksy relies on something that Getwid doesn’t provide. I was hoping you could tell me what that is and I could take that to the Getwid guys and ask them to implement it.

    Hello @ulim,
Could you please share the exact link of your website where you use the Getwid CPT block and it is not displayed correctly?

    Hello @creativethemeshq ,

I would have to give you admin access, which is problematic in this case. But here are two screenshots from my Admin UI:

    Hello @ulim,
No, you don’t have to give us admin access to your site.

If you don’t want to share your website link in public you can send us an email at [email protected] and we will try investigate this issue more detailed.

    Waiting an email from you.

    Have a nice day.
