Custom Post Type Permalink Structure

I want my custom post type to use the same permalink structure as “post”s… currently

https://singpolyma.net/2010/10/every-time-i-see-the/

works, but what is generated by wordpress is

https://singpolyma.net/actionstream/every-time-i-see-the/

I’d really rather have it generate that first one… but all I can find is how to change the slug. Is there a way to do this?
