Check your Screen Options tab in the upper right corner to see if it’s toggled to show for your user. May not be yet

    Hi Michael,

I had the same problem. Suggestion to make it default to show for all users, i.e. be checked. I would never have thought to look at the menu screen options, nor tell my client to look there to check it before beginning his editing.

Not seeing an easy or great way to handle that request of a default as showing idea. At best, someone would need to try and fetch the metaboxhidden_nav-menus user option and override/update its value. Sadly WP core is offering no obvious filters to easily hook into the process.

Realistically, I’d probably end up leaving it as just a code snippet instead of rolling it into the plugin itself. It’s not a topic that comes up frequently enough for me to worry about often.
