Custom Post link structure under another custom post

  • Please bare with me and I apologize in advance if I posted this to the wrong section.

    The size of this site will be anywhere from 500-1000+ pages.

    The site is broken down into 3 main sections. Research Department, Foundation, Hospital.

    I have three main custom post types for these sections to grant users different access. IE Research people shouldn’t have access to Foundation, etc. This all works fine and is not my problem.

    Within those three sections I want to add a news&updates section under each. So three new custom post types are built. Research News, Foundation News, Hospital News. When I try adding the slugs below the original department section and post an article. I get a 404 error and cannot figure out a work around

    Custom Post type > Custom post type > Post name
    or
    Research > News and Updates > Post Name
