Custom permalink for sermon post type
-
Hi, I have a feature request for your consideration:
Currently on the Sermon Settings page, I’ve set the Archive Page Slug to “sermons”. That means the individual sermon pages use this permalink structure:
www.example.com/sermons/name-of-the-sermon
However, I would like to be able to customise the permalink structure of the individual sermon pages, while still keeping the main archive under “sermons”.
Specifically, I’d like to be able to add the sermon year to the permalink, like this:
www.example.com/sermons/2017/name-of-the-sermon
Would you be able to add the ability for us to customise the permalink structure to our liking? For example, you could add a field to the sermon settings page, where we can either accept the default permalink (eg. ‘sermons’), or else we can customise it with our own variables, using the default WordPress variables like %year%.
In that case, I would be able to add
sermons/%year%/%postname%
and get the desired permalink I want, and other users could use other variables – maybe /year/month/day or maybe using “sermon” (singular) instead of “sermons”, or whatever they want.I made a mock-up to illustrate what I had in mind:
And if nothing were entered into this field, then it could default to whatever is used in the Archive Page Slug above.
What do you think?
