    Without knowing why you want to do this, can’t be sure whether this is helpful advice, but…

    How about using a custom field instead? That functionality is built into WordPress. Meta data gets added to the post. You can check/query for it whenever you display individual posts/pages or archives.

    With a bit of extra code, the custom field can even be added to the permalink so it forms part of the url.
