custom page with two posts without post loop

Is there a way to have a page set up that has the appearance of having two posts with featured images, but not having it link to a post?

I have a custom static home page I set up with a slider and below it are two the appearance of two featured posts. I really don’t it to have the post loop but I want that appearance of two featured posts on the home page. I have a screen shot link which I attached of what I am trying to do. Screenshot
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
