Custom page or widget on author page.

  • Hello,

    Current author page shows a list of latest posts by the author.

    I want to add a section at the top, showing a piece of content (i.e. page) specific to each author. Something like the author bio, but larger and richer (with images). Something that is easily inserted/edited via the TinyMCE editor.

    Ideally, it would be a special Page or a widget, but unique for each author.

    Do you have any suggestions? Research for available template tweaks and plugins have not solved my problem as of yet.

  • I don’t think a widget is going to cut it here as there’s no option to use the TinyMCE editor with the default Text Widget. What might work is to create a series of Pages (saved as Draft or Private) – one named for each author’s username. Then, in a custom author template, you’d need to grab the the current author’s username and construct a secondary query that pulled the content from the Draft page into the published author page followed by the usual list of posts etc.

    Clunky but possibly do-able.
