custom page meta instead of widget

hi everyone,
I am using several page templates for a small csm website, almost each page has its widget to display a side column with custom content (mainly text, sometimes a link and or a small image).
That’s not the best solution, in particular for a client who’s not familiar with wordpress, so I’m trying to find a solution like a custom meta to write column and page content in the same edit page.

my question is: is it the right solution a custom meta box? is it possibile to manage the content (adding links, uploading pictures etc..) like the tinyMce?
